Our Story & Legacy

A story of music, family, love, loss, resilience, and the people whose lives helped shape Sarah’s Choice Entertainment.

Sarah’s Choice Entertainment is more than the name of a DJ company. It is the continuation of a story that began long before the business was rebranded. It carries the influence of generations of musicians, the memory of people deeply loved, and the journey of two high school sweethearts who found their way back to one another while learning how to rebuild lives forever changed by loss.

More Than a Business

A Name With a Story Behind It

This page honors that complete story, the love that came before, the losses that changed everything, and the legacy that continues every time music brings people together.

High school sweethearts whose lives took different paths, only to reconnect after both had experienced unimaginable loss.

Picking Up the Pieces Together

A Love Story Shaped by Life, Loss, and New Purpose

Jason and Becky were high school sweethearts, but life eventually led them in different directions. Each built a life, created a family, and experienced chapters that neither could have predicted when they first knew one another.

Years later, both would face devastating loss within fifteen days of one another.

Becky lost her husband, Craig Stroud. Just fifteen days later, Jason lost his youngest daughter, Sarah Linn, when she was killed by a drunk driver on February 19, 2022.

Their losses were different, and grief did not follow a simple path for either of them. Yet, as Jason and Becky reconnected, they became part of one another’s effort to pick up pieces that could never simply be placed back exactly as they had been before.

Their relationship was not about replacing anyone or erasing the lives they had already shared with others. It was about recognizing that love, memory, grief, and hope can exist together.

They began moving forward side by side, carrying the people they loved with them while creating a new chapter of their own.

A Personal Connection to the Music

The DJ at Her Wedding and the Heart Behind a New Name

Long before Jason and Becky found their way back to one another, their stories had already crossed again in a meaningful way.

Jason was the DJ at Becky and Craig’s wedding.

Because Jason had been part of that important day so many years earlier, the DJ business and the memories connected to it were already personal to Becky. She understood that music was not merely Jason’s profession. It had been present throughout his life, his family, his relationships, and many of the moments that mattered most.

After Sarah Linn’s death, it was Becky who envisioned rebranding the company in Sarah Linn’s honor.

That idea became Sarah’s Choice Entertainment.

The name gave Jason’s decades of experience a renewed purpose while creating a meaningful way for Sarah Linn’s name and influence to remain part of something built with love, professionalism, and service to others.

Sarah’s Choice Entertainment was not created to turn tragedy into a marketing story. It was created so love, memory, purpose, and music could continue moving forward together.

Jason and Becky’s story is not one of forgetting the past. It is a story of honoring it while choosing to continue living, loving, serving, and building something meaningful together.

A Life That Continues to Influence Everything

More Than the Name Behind the Company

Sarah Linn was Jason’s youngest daughter. She was loved deeply by her family, her friends, and the animals she cared for, including Annie and Nezuko.

On February 19, 2022, Sarah Linn was killed by a drunk driver at just nineteen years old.

Her death changed Jason, his family, and everyone who loved her. There is no version of this story that minimizes that reality. There is no slogan that can explain the absence left behind.

Sarah’s Choice Entertainment carries her name with care. It is not intended to define her entire life by the way she died. Instead, it reflects the love surrounding her, the choices she inspired, and the continuing responsibility to create something meaningful in her honor.

Sarah Linn didn’t experience life. Life experienced Sarah Linn... and life was never the same!

Her name is never used as decoration. It remains at the heart of the company because her life, her personality, and the love she left behind continue to shape its purpose.

A Life Remembered

Craig Stroud

Becky’s late husband and an important part of the complete story that brought Jason and Becky to where they are today.

Craig Stroud

Craig’s place in Becky’s life and family is treated with respect and gratitude. The story of Jason and Becky does not require Craig’s memory to be diminished. His life, their marriage, and the experiences they shared remain part of Becky’s story.

Jason’s connection to that history is especially unique. Years before reconnecting with Becky, he provided the music for Becky and Craig’s wedding.

That personal connection became one of the reasons Becky understood how meaningful it would be to give Jason’s DJ business a name rooted in family, memory, and purpose.

Generations of Music

The Music That Shaped Everything

Music did not enter Jason’s life when he became a DJ. It was already part of his family’s identity.

Singers, guitar players, piano players, drummers, gospel recordings, live performances, and family stories helped create the musical foundation that Jason would eventually carry into a career spanning more than thirty years.

The technology changed. The stages changed. The audiences changed. But the ability of music to create connection, preserve memories, and move people never did.

Danny Ray Ingram
Jason’s Father and Hero

Danny Ray Ingram

Danny Ray Ingram was Jason’s father, his hero, and one of the strongest musical influences in his life.

An accomplished singer, piano player, and guitar player, Danny Ray recorded gospel music during the 1970s with the legendary Ambassadors. Decades later, he returned to the recording and performance world with the Webber Masters during the early 2000s.

His musical ability was not simply something Jason admired from a distance. It became part of the environment in which Jason learned how music could communicate faith, emotion, conviction, and truth.

Danny Ray’s performances and recordings remain an important part of the Ingram family’s musical history. His signature performance of “Beulah Land” continues to represent the voice, faith, and heart that made him so meaningful to those who heard him sing.

The Stage That Helped Shape Him

Saturday Nights at the Martinsville VFW

Long before Jason understood how deeply music would shape his life, he was surrounded by it every Saturday night through his father’s band at the Martinsville, Virginia VFW.

A Band, a Family, and a Place to Belong

More Than Musicians. They Made Room for a Young Boy.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Jason’s father played with a band that became a familiar part of Saturday nights at the Martinsville VFW. Members came and went over the years, but the way they treated Jason never changed.

They made him feel like he belonged. They treated him as one of their own, even when he was still very young and mostly just trying to stay out of the way.

Looking back, Jason understands how much those nights shaped him. The music, laughter, long hours, friendships, and the chance to share a stage with people he admired became part of the foundation for the entertainer, DJ, and person he would later become.

Most of those musicians are gone now, but the memories remain. Jason carries deep gratitude for every member who welcomed him, encouraged him, and allowed him to be part of something that felt much bigger than a band.

It was truly an honor and a privilege to share a stage with all of you. I may have mostly been in the way, but none of you ever made me feel that way. That meant more than I could have understood at the time.

Special Recognition

Rick Branch

Every member of that band holds an important place in Jason’s heart, but Rick Branch deserves special mention. A rhythm guitar player and vocalist, Rick’s influence reached far beyond the music.

Outside of Jason’s father, words can scarcely express what Rick meant to him. His presence, kindness, musicianship, and the way he made a young boy feel seen and included left an impact that has never faded.

Music Across Generations

A Mother and Son United Through Song

Danny Ray and his mother, Frances, shared more than a family bond. They shared a love of gospel music and the opportunity to sing together, creating moments that connected faith, family, and generations through song.

Their voices carried the same tradition that shaped the Ingram family for generations. It was a tradition built on faith, performance, and music used to bring people together.

This photograph captures a mother and son sharing the music that became part of their family’s identity.

A Voice of Faith and Family

Frances Ingram

Jason’s grandmother, Frances Ingram, carried her own remarkable musical legacy.

Frances recorded gospel albums in Nashville, sharing her faith through songs preserved across multiple recordings. Her music became part of the family’s spiritual and creative foundation.

She also carried one family story that she was always ready to tell: she met Dolly Parton and spent several days at Dolly’s home.

Whether someone asked about it or not, Frances was likely to make sure they heard the story.

That combination of music, faith, personality, and unforgettable storytelling helped make Frances a lasting influence within the Ingram family.

Brother & Sister

Bonnie Kay & Danny Ray Ingram

Bonnie Kay and her big brother, Danny Ray Ingram, shared more than family. They shared a lifelong love of gospel music and ministry through song. Together, they continued a musical tradition that had already become part of the Ingram family for generations.

Bonnie is an accomplished singer in her own right, and this photograph captures both siblings doing what came naturally to them: standing together and sharing their faith through music.

The image represents the family heritage that shaped Jason long before he stepped behind a DJ booth: a heritage where music brought people together, encouraged others, and created memories that lasted long after the final note.

James Ingram
Jason’s Grandfather

James Ingram

James Ingram was an accomplished guitar player whose musicianship contributed another important part of the family’s musical foundation.

His ability, influence, and connection to music helped establish a legacy later carried forward by Danny Ray, Jason, and other members of the family.

More Than a Cousin

James Derek DiGiovanni

Derek, as he was known to family and friends, was Jason's cousin on his father's side. But as an only child, Jason never saw him as simply a cousin. Derek became the brother he never had.

From an early age, they shared an unmistakable love of music, a passion deeply rooted in a family where musical talent spanned generations. An extraordinarily gifted drummer, Derek possessed a natural ability and stage presence that reflected the rich musical heritage of the Ingram family.

Though his life ended far too soon, Derek's musicianship, infectious spirit, and unforgettable talent remain an enduring part of the family's legacy. His influence lives on through the music he shared, the memories he created, and the generations of musicians who continue to carry forward a tradition that has always been about far more than notes and songs. It has always been about bringing people together.

Jason Behind the Music

What began as a family influence became a professional journey spanning more than three decades.

More Than 30 Years of Experience

From Live Performance to a Lifetime Behind the DJ Booth

Jason’s path in entertainment developed through years of performing, learning audiences, understanding sound, and discovering how music could shape the atmosphere of an entire room.

His career has included weddings, school events, private celebrations, community events, live entertainment, and performances in places connected to music history.

Among those experiences was performing at the world-famous Bowery in Myrtle Beach, the venue where the band Alabama famously began building its legacy.

Every chapter contributed to the experience Jason now brings to Sarah’s Choice Entertainment: professional preparation, confident communication, musical knowledge, event awareness, and respect for the meaning behind each celebration.

The equipment and technology may support the experience, but the real foundation remains the same one passed through his family: music should make people feel something.

Why This History Matters to Our Clients

Our clients are not expected to carry our grief or make our story part of their wedding day.

What they receive is the perspective that came from it.

We understand that moments become memories. We understand that parents, grandparents, children, friends, and family members gathered in one room should never be taken for granted. We understand that one song can carry a lifetime of meaning.

That understanding influences the care we place into every timeline, announcement, transition, formal dance, introduction, and final song.

We do not simply provide music for important moments. We recognize how important those moments may become.
